the answer to my question

From my point of view, the Chinese government should set up a limit on number of the private cars. First and foremost, private cars contribute enormous part of poisonous and greenhouse gases in big cities, which result in a serious air pollution. According to The Ministry of transportation China, by 2007 the total number of vehicles in China has reached 300 million, more than 90 percent are private ones. Just by simple calculation, we can see that billions of tons of waste gases are emitted every day which making our atmosphere worse and worse. Besides the quantity, the result of such situation has caused numerous problems. As per a research carried out by Sichuan University, teenagers with nose or lung sick has increased dramatically since 1996, which is the year the private cars became popular. Nowadays, taking Chengdu as an example, around six out of 10 high school students get nose problem which is related to the quality of the air they are breathing. Last but not least, the exceeding amount of private cars is a waste of national wealth and oil, which can be put into other better use like education and sanitation development. As the news report said two thirds of cars running on the way are not fully seated, the majority of which are private cars. If those drivers could take advantage of the public transport, the air would be three times nicer. From what I illustrated above, the conclusion can be easily drawn that limiting the number of private cars in China would help a lot in cleaning our atmosphere.

the environment question

The number of vehicles has been increasing since 1990s, and now,air pollution has become the most difficult challenge in China......

Should the Chinese government set a limit or call for a ban on private cars in order to reduce the air pollution?
